The NHL league leading San Jose Sharks peppered Nashville's goalie Dan Ellis with 57 shots but the Preds stole a win against the number one team 4-3 in overtime. "We stole this game," said Nashville's coach Barry Trotz. "Danny Ellis stole it, bottom line. He's the reason we won. They were letting us hang around. They kept us on life-support, then we got off the table and scored a goal. I am absolutely thrilled we won a game we shouldn't have."
The Sharks' Devin Setoguchi had 2 goals and an assist in the loss and tied a team record with 10 shots on goal. This was the Sharks first loss at home so far this season as they couldn't get much past Predators' goalie Dan Ellis. Setoguchi's 2 goals and Rob Blake scored for the Sharks, but Ville Koistinen's OT goal sealed the win for Nashville who are now sporting a 7-7-1 record for 15 points, while the Sharks' record drops to 13-3-1 giving San Jose 27 points (still tops in the NHL), 3 points up on second place overall New York Rangers who have 24 points. The Sharks currently have an 8 point lead on division rival Anaheim Ducks who have 19 points so far this season.
San Jose plays host to the Calgary Flames November 13th, and the Predators next game is a visit to Anaheim on the 14th.
