Roberto Luongo is certainly in the zone. The Vancouver Canuck's star goaltender just recorded his 3rd consecutive shutout and 5th this season. The Canucks beat the Minnesota Wild 2-0 with Sami Salo and Daniel Sedin scoring for Vancouver. Luongo is closing in on his own team record he set last year when he also had 3 shutouts in a row.
During his latest run, he has now played 201 minutes and eight seconds without allowing an opposition goal and last year's mark was 212 minutes, twelve seconds. He will have to wait until Wednesday's game against the Colorado Avalanche to try to beat his personal best.
The record for most consecutive shutouts belongs to the San Jose Sharks Brian Boucher, during the 2003-04 season when he was a member of the Phoenix Coyotes he recorded 5 consecutive shutouts. Boucher broke the previous record of 4 set way back in 1948-49 by Montreal Canadiens' Bill Durnan.
