The Pittsburgh Penguins and Sidney Crosby and company are starting to hit their stride. The Pens beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-4 in a shootout win last night. Crosby had 2 goals, Malkin had a goal and an assist to run his point scoring streak to an impressive 12 games and Penguins rookie defenseman Alex Goligoski scored the shootout game winner.
The Penguins were ahead 3-0 but Philadelphia stormed back to take a 4-3 lead at the end of the 2nd period but The Kid tied it up at 17:27 of the 3rd, when Crosby scored his second goal of the game, setting things up for overtime and finally the shootout. Ten shooters from both teams were turned aside by Martin Biron and Dany Sabourin (who took over from Marc-Andre Fleury who was pulled after allowing 4 goals). But the the rookie from the Pens, Alex Goligoski scored the eventual game winner.
With his 2 point night, Evgeni Malkin is now one point behind points leader, Capitals' Alexander Semin who has 27 points after his 5 point game the other night. With his 2 goals, Sidney Crosby has 21 points which is good for 3rd overall.
