
The Columbus Blue Jacket's young rookie Derick Brassard has been named as the NHL's Rookie of the Month for October after totalling nine points (5 goals, 4 assists) in his first ten games. Brassard is currently leading the Blue Jackets in scoring and leads the entire rookie crop of NHL players.
As far as rookie scoring, Brassard leads, followed closely by Kris Versteeg of the Chicago Blackhawks who has 8 points (2 goals, 6 assists in nine games), Brassard's teammate Jakub Voracek of Columbus has 3 goals and 4 assists in ten games. Fabian Brunnstrom of the Dallas Stars is in 4th place in rookie scoring with 5 goals and 1 assist and already has a hat trick under his belt.
