Penguins Win 3-2 With Sidney Crosby getting 3 Points

The Pittsburgh Penguins continue to roll with their 3-2 win against the Atlanta Thrashers last night. Sid the Kid scored a goal and had 2 assists and Evgeni Malkin had an assist in the game. Malkin now sits on top of the NHL with 31 points in his first 19 games while Crosby is fourth overall. Sidney Crosby now had 4 goals and 5 assists in his last 5 games.

The win was the seventh in their last eight games for the Penguins. Atlanta opened the scoring when Vyacheslav Kozlov tipped in Ilya Kovalchuk's shot for his 11th goal of the season. The Penguins tied it at 10:57 of the first period when Miroslav Satan popped in his 9th, with assists from Pascal Dupuis and Sidney Crosby. Halfway through the second, Crosby scored his 7th on a slap shot from Tyler Kennedy. Jim Slater tied it up for the Thrashers on a wrap around past Pens goalie Dany Sabourin about a minute later.

Atlanta's right winger Chris Thorburn was in the box for interference when Petr Sykora tipped in Crosby's shot for the game winner past Thrashers' goalie Ondrej Pavelec.

With the win, the Penguins have 27 points and are now only 3 points back of the idle New York Rangers, but the Pens have 3 games in hand on the Eastern Conference leading Rangers. The Penguins also are one point back of the streaking Boston Bruins.
