The 2009 Winter Classic will be held at Wrigley Field on New Year's Day when the Chicago Blackhawks host last year's Stanley Cup winner the Detroit Red Wings. Season ticketholders of the Blackhawks will be allowed the right to buy tickets for the outdoor event during the initial on-sale phase.
A general public random drawing will be held through the Chicago Blackhawks' official website (chicagoblackhawks.com) beginning Noon ET/11 a.m. CT, Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, through on or about 11:59 a.m. ET/10:59 a.m. CT, Friday, Nov. 28, 2008. Registrations received after the deadline will not be accepted. There is no fee to register. Limit one entry per person. Each registrant selected will have an opportunity to purchase a limited number of tickets.
The vintage jerseys above will be worn by Chicago and Detroit for the game (and will be sold through their respective online stores too). You might want to pick up a couple. I know I'd like a Lidstrom or Zetterberg jersey from the Red Wings or maybe Toews or Kane's jersey from the Blackhawks. Hey, maybe all 4!
