Alexander Ovechkin is back from his visit to Russia to see his ailing grandfather. It's good to see that the NHL's top sniper put his family first as his grandfather helped raise the Capitals top player when he was a child.
Ovechkin has been a little slow off the mark this year, with only 2 goals and five points after scoring a record 65 last year. He was without a goal in the 6 games he played before making the pilgrimage back home and says his grandfather's health had been weighing on his mind.
He missed only 2 games, but did lose his consecutive games streak which was at 203 straight appearances. The Caps lost 5-0 to the Buffalo Sabres last Saturday after beating the Nashville Predators in a shootout during Ovechkin's absence.
