Here's a quick rundown on the games on January 4, 2011 (I'm still having trouble writing "2011" and not "2010").
Minnesota Wild 2 New Jersey Devils 1
Tampa Bay Lightning 1 Washington Capitals 0
Buffalo Sabres 3 Colorado Avalanche 4 Overtime
Detroit Red Wings 5 Edmonton Oilers 3
Columbus Blue Jackets 2 Phoenix Coyotes 4
Yes that was Johan Hedberg in the net for Clayton Stoner's 1st career goal in the Devils-Wild game. New Jersey's woes continue as they are 2-8-0 in their last 10 and 8 points back of the comparatively high-flying Islanders in the Atlantic Division. The Isles also have a couple of games in hand on the Devils who look pitiful at this point. These are dark days for New Jersey fans.
The New Jersey Devils are dead last in the NHL and the 3 teams ahead of them all have games in hand. The Devils just made a coaching change bringing back Lemaire, but if there's no abrupt change freakin' quick, the next step is going to be people getting moved outta Jersey.
That goal by Martin St Louis in the Lightning-Caps game sets up an interesting showdown in tonight's Tampa Bay-Pittsburgh game. Crosby going up against Stamkos. That is one game I would kill to see.
