Sabres Storm Back To Beat Pens 4-3

The Buffalo Sabres came back from a 3-0 deficit, scoring 4 times in the second half of the game to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3. Jordan Staal opened the scoring at 4:08 of the first with his 11st. Pittsburgh right winger Bill Guerin tucked one behind Ryan Miller putting the Penguins up 2-0 late in the 1st period. Miller was pulled after Chris Kunitz beat him early in the 2nd and replace by Patrick Lalime who was solid in Buffalo's net, stopping 27 of Pittsburgh's shots and blanking them for the remainder of the game.
Right winger Drew Stafford scored twice in the 2nd, with his first on the night being a penalty shot where he beat Penguins netminder Marc-Andre Fleury cleanly with a quick wrist shot. Stafford also assisted on Paul Gaustad's 8th of the season that tied the game 3-3 at 7:28 of the third. Jason Pominville scored the only power play marker and eventual game winner midway through the period. Sidney Crosby was held to a single assist in the game and Evgeni Maklin was pointless although he had 5 shots on net.
