Sabres 3-Goal 3rd Period Takes Out St Louis
The Buffalo Sabres rallied from a 3-2 lead for the St Louis Blues lead by center Tim Connolly's 2 goals to win 5-3.
Alex Steen put the Blues up 1-0 on an unassisted goal as he beat Patrick Lalime midway through the 1st period. Jochen Hecht was able to draw the Sabres even with a wrap-around with 4:08 left.
Mike Grier, with his 1st of two on the night, put Buffalo ahead at 7:47 of the 2nd, but Eric Brewer and Steen (with his 2nd of the night) replied for St Louis to restore their lead.
In the 3rd, Grier got his 8th of the year to cue the comeback, but it was Connolly, with a power play goal followed by a shorthanded marker that put the game away. Grier got an assist on Connolly's 2nd goal. Connolly also had an assist on Hecht's goal in the first, so both ended the night with a pair of goals and an assist. The win puts the Sabres 5 points up on the Boston Bruins for the lead in the Northeast Division, and Buffalo is trails the Washington Capitals by 4 points for the top of Eastern Division.
