Martin Broeur set a new standard for goaltenders with his 1,030th appearance (all with the New Jersey Devils). Brodeur remains tied with Terry Sawchuk for the most career shutouts with 103.

Patrick Kane was the 2nd Chicago shooter in the shootout and scored the game winner lifting the Blackhawks to a 5-4 victory over the Boston Bruins.
