Bruins Thomas Saves The Day In 2-1 Win Over Panthers
Tim Thomas had to come up big in the dying seconds to preserve his Boston Bruins' win over the Florida Panthers on a shot by defenseman Jordan Leopold. Boston came back after giving up Florida's only goal, Dominic Moore's wrist shot that beat Thomas 4:09 into the game, but Thomas shut down the Panthers from there, stopping 26 shots. The Panthers had Scott Clemmensen in net rather than Tomas Vokoun who had shut out the Bruins in the last two meetings of the teams. Clemmensen did play great, stopping 26 of 28, but Michael Ryder was able to tie it in the 2nd and Marco Sturm gave Boston the win with his 11th on a wrist shot that beat Clemmensen with about 16 minutes left in the third.
The win gave Boston their 3rd win in a row, but they still trail the Buffalo Sabres by 5 points in the Northeast Division, as the Sabres also won last night. Florida dropped their 2nd straight and sit in third place in the Southeast.
