Seabrook Scores OT Winner As Blackhawks Beat Sharks
The Blackhawks were down 3-1 early in the 2nd period, but managed to claw back and win on Jeremy Roenick night in Chicago.
Brent Sopel got his first of the season at 4:08 that eluded Sharks' netminder Evgeni Nabokov and San Jose's sniper Dany Heatley replied with his league leading 14th goal of the year on a sweet pass from Joe Thornton which knotted it up at 1-1.
Early in the 2nd period Ben Eager and Douglas Murray exchanged blows behind the Sharks net netting each 5 minute majors and Eager an extra minor for unsportsmanlike conduct. Jason Demers scored on the ensuing power play with an unassisted goal beating Blackhawks goalie Cristobal Huet and then Patrick Marleau scored after a Blackhawks giveaway in their own end.
Cue the comeback music as Patrick Kane and John Madden both scored to bring the Hawks back into a 3-3 tie with San Jose with defenseman Duncan Keith assisting on both Chicago goals. The third period was relatively uneventful, with only one minor penalty assessed to each team.
Early in the overtime period, Jonathan Towes did some good work behind the Sharks net forcing a turnover and getting the puck over to an uncovered Brent Seabrook who snapped it past Huet for the win.
