Red Wings Lose In OT To Panthers
Florida Panthers netminder Scott Clemmensen is usually relagated to a back up role appearing rarely to spell off whomever is his team's main goaltender, but he can get the job done when called upon and he was last night. The high-flying Detroit Red Wings were held to one goal for only the fourth time this season despite outshooting the Panthers 40 to 20.
The game was scoreless until 17:58 of the 2nd period when Red Wings center Pavel Datsyuk solved Clemmensen backhanding Henrik Zetterberg's pass into the net for his 5th of the season. Stephen Weiss tied it for Florida midway through the 3rd and Weiss also assisted on Bryan McCabe's game winner at 40 seconds into the extra frame.
