Predators' Scores 2 To Beat Detroit Red Wings 3-1
Nashville Predators' Martin Erat scored twice to dump the Detroit Red Wings 3-1. Preds goalie Pekka Rinne made 30 saves as Nashville won their 6th straight game and more importantly, moving the Preds one point above the suddenly struggling Wings. The Predators are looking good, have now won 10 of their last 12 games moving into 2nd place in the Central Division, 5 points back of division leading Chicago.
Jason Arnott scored his 7th to put the Preds up midway through the 1st period and Erat got his first of 2 on the night early in the 2nd. Drew Miller scored his 1st of the year to cut the lead to 2-1, but Detroit's offense sputtered somewhat in this game with Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk going pointless, although Zetterberg did manage 5 shots on Rinne. Red Wings' goalie Chris Osgood stopped 22 of Nashville's 25 shots.
Erat scored his 2nd of the game late in the 3rd to seal the victory for Nashville, and that was his 4th point in his last 2 games, giving him 4 goals, 4 assists for 8 points this year.
Detroit hosts the Atlanta Thrashers on Wednesday and Nashville heads over to Colorado to play the Avalanche.
