Predators Beat Devils With 3-2 Shootout Victory

New Jersey Devils Zach Parise and Nashville Predators Jason Arnott traded goals all night, but when it came down to it in the shootout, Nashville's Martin Erat put a backhander past Martin Brodeur to hand New Jersey their first loss in 4 shootouts this season.

Arnott opened the scoring when he beat the Devils Brian Rolston to the puck and slipped it through Brodeur's legs at 4:44 of the 1st period. Parise answered with his 12th of the year, 8 and a half minutes into the 1st period with a tip-in past Nashville's goalie Pekka Rinne on a rocket from the point by Colin White. Both teams were held scoreless in the second period.

In the 3rd, Nashville's captain, Jason Arnott put the Predators up 2-1 with a sweet tip-in between his legs past Brodeur, but Parise tied it up again tipping in a pass from Devils left winger Dean McAmmond for his team-high 13th of the season. With those 2 goals, Parise moves into a tie for 3rd overall in the goalscoring race, 2 behind the Rangers Marian Gaborik and the Capitals Alexander Ovechkin.

OT settled nothing and they went to the shoot out:

New Jersey continues with their "road warrior" tour, this time heading to Dallas to face the Stars on November 21st, where they hope to improve on their league-leading 9-1-1 road record this season. The Columbus Blue Jackets will be in Nashville to pick up on their divisional battle with the Preds on Saturday.
