Ouch! Blue Jackets Get Spanked By Red Wings

Nationwide Arena, home to the Columbus Blue Jackets witnessed a 9-1 rout as the Detroit Red Wings brought their game on wednesday night. 4-0 after the first period, 6-1 after the 2nd and three more Detroit goals in the final frame as the Wings chased both Blue Jackets goalies out of the net. Ken Hitchcock will have to try to forget his 1,000th game as Columbus was out of this one early and the Red Wings just kept coming.

Rick Nash was the only Blue Jacket to get one past Jimmy Howard who faced 26 shots. This was Howard's 6th appearance of the season and first back in the Detroit goal, after allowing 5 goals against the Oilers back on October 29th. Niklas Kronwall led the way with 2 goals and one assist and youngster Justin Abdelkader got 2 goals for the Red Wings. Cleary, Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Bertuzzi all had multi-point nights in the lopsided game.

Detroit was obviously up for this game after being embarrassed losing 5-1 last saturday to the lowly Toronto Maple Leafs. The Red Wings next play November 12th when they face the Vancouver Canucks in Detroit.
