Mikko Koivu Named Minnesota Wild's New Captain

Since the Minnesota Wild broke into the NHL back in 2000, the team had employed using a rotating captaincy, but this past October the team changed gears by naming 26-year-old Mikko Koivu as full-time captain. This is only Koivu's 5th year in the league.

With Marian Gaborik leaving for the Rangers in the off-season, Koivu has become even more of one of the Wild’s go-to guys. Koivu is currently the team's leader in points (16) and assists (11).

There's some video of The Hockey News' Rory Boylen interviewing the new "Captain Koivu" over at THN site.
