Caps Win Over Islanders In Long Shootout

Caps Alexander Semin snapped a quick goal past Dwayne Roloson about eight seconds into the game and you had to think that Washington was just going to roll over the New York Islanders, but this was a long tough game. The Islanders had a 3-1 lead after just seven minutes played in the first. But the Capitals were not to be denied storming back to take a 4-3 lead in the 3rd period. Trent Hunter tied it up at 17:52 of the 3rd.

The teams went to OT for the third time in their last 3 games. There were 22 shots! in the shootout as neither Roloson or Varlamov would allow much to get past them. Caps goalie Semyon Varlamov made a beautiful goal line save in the shoot out against Hunter. Chris Clark won it with a great glove hand shot past Roloson. In other Washington Capitals news, injured Alexander Ovechkin is expected to return to the line-up next tuesday.
